The NIU women’s cross-country team had a successful start, finishing second in a nine-school field at the Elmhurst College Invitational on Saturday. Ginter’s inaugural performance on the turf merited a nomination for the MAC Runner of the Week. Julie Trundle from Bowling Green won the award.

Women’s golf will invade Iowa on Saturday. NIU will travel to the University of Iowa Invitational at 9 a.m. The nine-team tournament is at Finkbine Golf Course and features 36 holes Saturday and 18 holes Sunday.

The men take to the links at the University of Nebraska Fairway Club Invitational. Seniors Ethan Roush and Nick Schenk lead their NIU teammates back onto the short grass.

The two-day event tees off at 8 a.m. Monday and Tuesday.

NIU junior middle blocker Kate McCullagh was named MAC West Player of the Week.
