A single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a 29-year-old man on Suydam Road is under investigation.

DeKalb County Coroner Dennis Miller pronounced Dennis Pence, last of Leland, dead at 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning at the scene of the accident.

The coroner’s office said it appeared Pence was eastbound on Suydam Road when he lost control of his vehicle. Pence left the road, coming to rest in a ditch on the north side of the road about one-fourth of a mile west of Somonauk Road.

The cause of the accident is unknown. An investigation by the coroner’s office and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office is pending.
