ISA hosts multi-cultural event on Saturday

NIU’s Indian Student Association raised $1,700 last semester in order to put on its multi-cultural show, Euphoria, this Saturday at the Egyptian Theatre.

The Events Director and Planner, Bhargav Dronamraju, said he plans to instill a feeling of bliss on his audience at Saturday’s show.

“I wanted to have this entire show as fun as possible – not just for a niche group, but all across the board,” Dronamraju said.

The night will feature local entertainers, like the hip-hop dance group Animation and the recently crowned Mr. Papi Chulo 2005, Patricio Rodriquez Rucoba.

Also performing at the Indian-oriented, but open-ended multi-cultural event are groups such as Lake Shor, an a cappella singing group from the University of Illinois at Chicago associated with the ISA, and individual performers from NIU’s school of music.

The ISA puts on this event annually and has been active at NIU since the 1980s.

“The quality of this production is really good,” said ISA Vice President Javed Husain. “This will be an awesome show.”

Husain also said this highly anticipated event would showcase the diversity that is prevalent on campus.
