Those interested in having a night on the town and helping the community will have the chance to do so at tonight’s benefit show hosted by the Egyptian Theatre.
The “Just Make It Happen” benefit show will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at the theater, 135 N. Second St.
The event will be held to raise money to help volunteers from the Preservation of the Egyptian Theatre, Inc. and assist in building projects for the 1,435-seat theater.
The benefit show will feature a number of musical acts, including performances of popular songs such as “Unforgettable,” “Shoo Shoo Baby” and “New York, New York.”
State Senator Brad Burzynski (R-Sycamore) will attend and be commended for his role in maintaining and upgrading landmark theaters, said show producer and director John Smith.
Other guests, including school board member Andy Small, also will be commended for their various efforts in supporting the community.
The show will be an optional black-tie event. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the event will begin at 7:30 p.m.
