The House to reopen for one night only

For one night only, The House, 263 E. Lincoln Highway, will reopen its doors.

Kickstand Production, the company that booked events before the venue’s December 2004 closing, has rented the former bistro for Friday night.

A show featuring Troubled Hubble, Hockey Night and Inspector Owl costs $8 and begins at 8 p.m.

The concert was originally booked at The Rodeo, 249 Palmer Court. But the event was moved after The Rodeo was shut down before Bob Nanna’s performance last Thursday.

The location had been operating without a permit of assembly and is taking steps to acquire the paperwork necessary to hold events.

The Rodeo, which began booking shows sporadically in August, began holding weekly Thursday performances in January.

The temporary closing fell on the heels of recent shows by Bobby Conn and Hanalei, which lead to an average attendance of almost 200 people.

Since the show Friday is a one-time deal, The House will not reopen the bistro portion of the venue. However, Matthew Clark, owner of the Flying Bean Cafe and former House employee, will provide provisions.

“The House never got a true send off,” Kickstand Production founder John Ugolini said. “I just hope people come out and have a good time so The House can leave a good last impression.”
