Two NIU football players charged Friday with unlawful use of a credit card have turned themselves in.

Antonio Tribble, a freshman strong safety recruit from Riverdale, turned himself in to DeKalb police Monday. Joseph Pomaranski, a freshman linebacker walk-on from Bensenville, also turned himself in to police this weekend.

In addition to unlawful use of a credit card, Pomaranski is charged with false statement for purpose of procuring credit card, financial identity theft and two counts of forgery.

The pair posted bond before being released. Bond was set at $15,000 for Pomaranski and $10,000 for Tribble; they were required to post 10 percent.

Both men have been suspended from the football team for the time being, head football coach Joe Novak said.

DeKalb police allege Pomaranski used the identity of an acquaintance to obtain a credit card, which both men used to make the purchases.

Pomaranski also allegedly forged documents forwarding the victim’s mail to a new address.

Forgery and unlawful use of a credit card are Class 3 felonies punishable by two to five years in prison and a $25,000 fine. False statement for purpose of procuring credit card and financial identity theft are Class 4 felonies punishable by one to three years in prison and a $25,000 fine.

The incident first was reported on March 11.
