A plane crash on the grounds of DeKalb’s General Electric Company Saturday afternoon took the lives of two occupants of the small plane.

According to the DeKalb County Coroner’s Office, Steve J. Toncray, 39, Chicago, was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash. The other occupant, Kristen Elise Glick-Nuckolls, 37, Elgin, was transported to Kishwaukee Community Hospital in very critical condition and died upon arrival.

The official cause of the crash is unknown but will be investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.

Sources say the Cessna 150 plane caught a wingtip on a chain-link fence while approaching the GE property, located at 1900 Pleasant St., from the west.

The plane then crashed on a grassy area about 150 yards short of the GE fuel depot area.

There were no other injuries in the crash and no significant damage was done to the GE property.
