City charges Starbusters with letting minors enter

Starbusters Bar & Grill will face liquor violation charges Monday.

The establishment, 930 Pappas Drive, was charged with allowing two female minors to enter and remain on the premises on Oct. 4.

That is a violation of Chapter 38.21 of the DeKalb Municipal Code.

The minors were not employees of Starbusters.

City Attorney Margo Ely said the DeKalb Police Department first heard about the case when someone called in and complained.

This is not the first time the establishment has been charged with such a violation. Last March 28, Starbusters was charged with allowing minors into the establishment and serving them alcohol.

In that case, it received a $750 fine and was required to post a sign stating that a picture ID is needed for anyone who looks younger than 25 years old.

Ely said she was contacted by Jordan Gallagher, who will represent Starbusters.

If convicted, the establishment could receive a fine or have its Class A liquor license suspended or revoked.

No one at Starbusters was available for comment.

Starbusters will face Liquor Commissioner and Mayor Greg Sparrow at 4 p.m. Monday at the DeKalb Municipal Building, 200 S. Fourth St.

This is the same day Amnesia night club will face charges for allegedly allowing 15 underagers to enter the premises on Dec. 4.

Amnesia also is charged with having people over 21 pass their IDs to those who were underage and for charging a set amount for an unlimited amount of beer on Dec. 5.
