‘Pomp and Circumstance’

By Mike Morig

The day some students couldn’t wait for, and others hoped never would come, is almost here for many NIU seniors.

On Dec. 14, NIU will hold commencement ceremonies for those graduating from the university.

There will be two ceremonies, both to be held at the Convocation Center, 1525 W. Lincoln Highway.

The first ceremony will be at 9 a.m. and will include students from the College of Health and Human Sciences, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the College of Visual and Performing Arts.

The second ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. and will include the College of Business, the College of Education, and the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology.

Students who need to pick up a cap and gown can do so at the Convo Center’s Multipurpose Room between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Dec. 12 and 13 or on the day of commencement from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Both ceremonies will combine doctoral, master’s and baccalaureate candidates from each college.

Students are encouraged to arrive 45 minutes before the scheduled start time to guarantee their spot in the ceremony.
