Fire causes $25,000 in damage

A fire that occurred about 12:49 a.m. Sunday caused an estimated $25,000 worth of damage.

The DeKalb Fire Department responded to a call about a garage fire at 112 E. Taylor St. The unattached garage was engulfed in the fire, which was threatening to spread to other homes.

One nearby home received minor radiant heat damage. A car parked in the driveway was severely damaged.

Firefighters were able to control the fire in 20 minutes.

There were no injuries to any occupants or firefighters.

The cause of the fire was undetermined, but investigators did find a space heater operating in the area of origin, as stated by the homeowner.

Sycamore and Cortland fire departments also responded to the fire. There were 20 firefighters at the scene.
