“Black brotha, I love ya/ I will never try to hurt ya/ I want ya to know that/ I’m here for you forever true.”

The S.I.S.T.E.R.S. organization is getting ready for its 25th annual Tribute to Black Men, which begins at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Holmes Student Center’s Duke Ellington Ballroom.

“The Tribute to Black Men is for black men only,” said S.I.S.T.E.R.S. President Brandi Mathis. “This is a special tribute to show recognition for the men who make a difference; those that are doing something positive in the black community.”

This year’s event will feature special appearances from 11 different campus organizations, including the Northern Black Choir, NAACP, PPMO and more.

Monique Henderson, a senior textiles, apparel and merchandise major and member of S.I.S.T.E.R.S., said she is hopeful about this year’s event.

“This year is going to be better because we are making it more interesting,” she said. “We are making sure it tops the past years. We hope to make it enjoyable for any and everybody.”

This event is free and funded by the Student Association and Campus Activities Board.
