Black Student Union reschedules Chill Fest

The Black Student Union will sponsor its annual Chill Fest today. Originally scheduled for Sept. 12, the fest was canceled because of rain.

BSU president Sharina Ware said Chill Fest definitely will be held today.

“We promise that the Chill Fest will be [today] – rain, sleet or snow,” Ware said.

The fest will feature a cookout. Ware said there will be an abundance of food for students, including free hamburgers, hot dogs and more.

Ware said there also will be BSU umbrella organizations in attendance, such as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the National Pan-Hellenic Council.

“This will be a great chance for the students to come learn more about our organizations,” Ware said.

BSU treasurer DuJuan Smith said there also will be games available for students, including a Spades table and Twister. Ware said there also might be a double Dutch tournament.

Ware said BSU executive board members have worked hard on the fest, and students should come to support them. Ware said Chill Fest will be a great experience for new and transfer students.

“The Chill Fest is always a lot of fun,” she said.

For information on Chill Fest, call the Center for Black Studies at 753-1709. Ware said this event is not limited to members of the BSU.

“We welcome everyone to attend this event,” she said.
