Women’s soccer struggles on road

NIU women’s soccer coach Frank Horvat said his team had problems playing good soccer for a full game over the weekend. They return home from Colorado Springs, Colo. with two losses.

The Huskies (0-2-0) lost to Air Force Friday night 4-2, with both goals coming in the second half.

Tiffany Anderson scored the first Huskie goal 19 minutes into the second half, and Kerry Walters finished the scoring on a penalty kick with 25 seconds remaining in the game.

Sunday’s game against Colorado College did not fare any better as the Huskies lost to the Tigers 3-0. NIU allowed one goal in the first half, but was outshot overall 17-10 the Tigers.

“We gave up seven goals this weekend … and probably four of them weren’t deserved,” Horvat said. “We need to take pride in ourselves and take care of things. That’s a challenge to everyone here. We’re better than what we’ve shown so far. To play only one half of good soccer each time out is unacceptable.”
