I was extremely insulted by Raymound Felula’s letter to the editor on Nov. 9. How did Mr. Felula make the assumption that “the Afro(sic)-American political block of voters are not interested in character as a prequalification for political office?” You must think that African-Americans comprise a homogeneous group of idiots. How dare you accuse someone else of being racist! To suggest that we vote solely on the basis of race rather than qualifications is a BLATANT racist insult implying that African-Americans are not intelligent enough to assess political issues and candidates. Look at the number of African-Americans who did NOT support Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas because of his conservative beliefs. Educational tip: African-Americans share a rich history, but we also come in all shapes, sizes, political ideologies and classes. So stop whining. Carol Moseley Braun is going to be here for a while.
