Sister Sorority Week to promote unification

NIU sororities will celebrate unity this week during Sister Sorority Week.

“Sister Sorority Week is a week where all the girls from different houses do things for each other,” said Kathy Stover, vice-president of activities for Panhellenic and an Alpha Delta Pi member.

The week will give sorority members many different things to do, she said.

Sister Sorority Week has been held for many years and has gone well in the past.

“The purpose of Sister Sorority Week is to get all the sororities together to form unity rather than competition,” Stover said.

Sororities will have dinner exchanges today and Tuesday, Stover said. Dinner exchanges are when several girls from one house have dinner at another house.

“I like dinner exchanges most because (sorority members) sit and eat with each other and get to know other members better,” Stover said.

Stover said Merle Norman will be doing make-overs for the sorority members on Tuesday night.

On Wednesday, each sorority will hang up the banner that another sorority made for them, she said.

Stover said there will be a scavenger hunt on Thursday.

“People from different houses will be grouped together,” Stover said. A party for participants will be held after the hunt, she added.
