Find us a place

It has come to our attention the Center for Latino and Latin American Studies has been displaced due to the construction of the parking facility needed for the new Campus Life Building. It has also come to our attention that as of yet the Center for Latino and Latin American Studies has not been relocated to an adequate facility. The gentlemen of Sigma Lambda Beta request that you attend to this subject promptly.

The Center is a major building block of the Latino community here at Northern Illinois University. This specific program serves a genuine purpose for the Latinos on campus. We realize that President La Tourette is a very busy man, but so far we haven’t heard anything to suit our satisfaction. To turn your back on the Center for Latino and Latin American Studies would be a grave injustice to Latinos on campus. An alternative location with adequate space would be the fair thing to do in this situation.

Dr. La Tourette, we respect you and the position you are in and urge you to hear our call. Your track record, based on commitment and dedication to Latinos on campus, is a positive one in the eyes of our organization. We ask you, however, to be consistent in your decision making and provide us with a new location. We request a separate facility, to become part of the Center for Black Studies facility or be granted space in the new Campus Life Building equivalent to the existing one. Your cooperation and understanding is duly appreciated.
