The School of Music will live stream Welcome Back concert

DeKALB — The NIU School of Music will be conducting a live stream Welcome Back concert at 8 p.m. through the School of Music website

The concert will be free, taking place on the stage of the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall in the Music Building. NIU professors and instructors will be showcasing their new pieces that they composed this summer, according to the NIU Arts Blog

The Welcome Back concert will serve as an opportunity for NIU music students to understand how recitals that use appropriately socially distanced protocols will work this semester, according to the Blog

The concert will include Liam Teague, professor of music and head of Steelpan Studies; Gregory Beyer, director of percussion studies; Yuko Asada, musical instrument technician, director of the Community School of the Arts Steelband and assistant with the NIU Steelband; Ben Wahlund, percussion instructor; Rodrigo Villanueva, professor of jazz studies; and Robert Chappell, distinguished teaching professor and professor emeritus, according to the Blog.

Those attending can also expect special guests: vibraphone musician Bradley Stirtz and bass player Wesley Morgan, according to the Blog
