Nine more students and two employees now COVID-19 positive

DeKALB — NIU announced Monday nine additional students and two additional employees have tested positive for the coronavirus, and 49 more students have recovered from COVID-19, according to the Campus COVID-19 Dashboard. As of Monday, 72 students and three employees are currently COVID-19 positive. 

The dashboard’s cumulative testing stats show a total of 177 Huskies who have tested positive for the coronavirus, and 102 Huskies have recovered. 

As of Monday at 3:10 p.m., NIU is at 19.5% quarantine and isolation use, according to the dashboard. This is a 5.9% decrease from Friday. 

Surveillance testing

NIU administered 385 COVID-19 tests during the week of Sept. 8 for surveillance testing. The positivity rate was 1.3%, with five recorded positive results, according to surveillance testing data. 

Surveillance testing data is updated on the dashboard website every Monday, or on Tuesday if a holiday falls on a Monday.
