15 more students now COVID-19 positive, 17 students recover

DeKALB — NIU announced Monday 15 additional students are now COVID-19 positive, and 17 more students have recovered from COVID-19, according to the Campus COVID-19 Dashboard. As of Monday, 49 students and three employees are currently COVID-19 positive. 

The dashboard’s cumulative testing stats show a total of 225 Huskies who have tested positive for the coronavirus, and 173 Huskies have recovered. 

As of Monday at 3:04 p.m., NIU is at 19.5% quarantine and isolation use, according to the dashboard. This is the same as data from Friday. 

Surveillance testing 

NIU administered 638 COVID-19 tests during the week of Sept. 14 for surveillance testing. The positivity rate was 2.7%, with five recorded positive results, according to surveillance testing data. 

Surveillance testing data is updated on the dashboard website every Monday, or on Tuesday if a holiday falls on a Monday.
