Bus routes change due to construction

The Lucinda project finally has caused the Mass Transit Board to change its routes to accommodate the construction on campus.

Effective today, Huskie Bus routes one, three, four and five will be changed slightly because of the construction taking place near the DuSable Hall drop-off spot.

As a result of the rerouting, the buses no longer will be able to turn around at the circle in front of DuSable.

The buses will enter the circle from Annie Glidden Road and

take Stadium Drive to University Circle. The pickup and drop-off will be at the island inside the circle.

The buses then will turn on Lucinda Avenue and continue their routes to the Holmes Student Center.

Mikki Anderson, Mass Transit adviser, said the changes will be made temporarily because “the construction has made its way to the sidewalk near Gabel (Hall).”

“The circle will be blocked off, so the buses won’t be able to go through,” she added.

The first phase of the project began in the summer. The $2.96 million project narrowly was approved at the DeKalb City Council meeting this summer.

NIU had to come up with $535,000 for the project.
