Grubbs appears to win circuit clerk as of election night

DeKalb — Republican candidate Lorri Grubbs appears to have won DeKalb County circuit clerk with 9,490 more votes than Democratic candidate Rukisha L. Crawford on election night. Grubbs will replace Maureen Josh, who will retire at the end of this year. 

Grubbs appears to have won DeKalb County with 28,007 votes against Crawford with 18,517 on election night, according to the DeKalb County election site

Grubbs was raised in DeKalb and earned an associate degree in arts from Kishwaukee College in 1992, according to Grubbs’ campaign website. In 1994, Grubbs started working for the DeKalb County circuit clerk as a deputy circuit clerk in the civil division. 

Grubbs was appointed to be the supervisor of the civil division for the DeKalb County circuit clerk in 2004. In her time working for the DeKalb County circuit clerk, she has worked with the Second District Appellate Court.

Grubbs has worked with Kids’ World Children’s Ministry for 10 years, according to her campaign website. She has also volunteered for Feeding My Starving Children, Meals on Wheels and Sycamore School District. 

During her term as DeKalb County circuit clerk, Grubbs plans to implement the criminal e-filing system that the state of Illinois mandates, according to her campaign website.

Grubbs also plans to add more kiosks, additional public computer stations and training for staff to help those who plan on to represent themselves.

Grubbs will take her spot as DeKalb County circuit clerk on Jan. 1, 2021. 

Mail-in ballots have to be postmarked before or on Nov. 3 and must arrive by Nov. 17 to be counted.
