Greeks plan for Family Weekend

Fraternity and sorority houses on Greek Row each have unique plans to celebrate Family Weekend ‘92.

“Our pledges have a little skit planned that highlights what they’ve done in the house this semester and about NIU life in general, since most of them are away from home for the first time,” said Sigma Kappa President Lisa Clements.

Clements said they have a luncheon planned for parents but have other important plans as well.

“We’re trying to form a parents’ corp this year,” she said.

Alpha Kappa Lambda fraternity is planning a tailgating party for their parents prior to the kickoff of Saturday’s football game.

“It’s nice to have a taste from home,” said Oliver Adams of Alpha Kappa Lambda.

Adams said parents will bring baked goods from home while the members barbecue for everyone.

“Later that night we’ll be having a party, and parents can stay if they want to,” he said. “Some of the dads really get into it.”

One of the ways Delta Gamma keeps their parents informed of what their chapter does throughout the semester is through a video shown on Family Weekend.

“The videos we’ll be showing have all sorts of different events on them, including Rush and the various activities we’ve been involved in throughout the semester,” said Sabrina Ayala of Delta Gamma.

Ayala said brunch will be served at 10:30 a.m. sharp for all parents and house members.
