DeKALB — The women’s basketball team’s Wednesday road meeting with the Kent State University Golden Flashes was postponed Tuesday, according to a NIU Athletics news release.

NIU Athletics spokesperson Mike Hasse confirmed to the Northern Star that the postponement comes after COVID-19 related issues for the Kent State program. The game, originally scheduled for 1 p.m. CST  Wednesday, will be rescheduled for a date yet to be determined.

The postponement is the women’s team’s first of the season due to COVID-19. The virus has ravaged schedules and programs across the country, with Duke University ending their women’s basketball season on Dec. 25. University of Tennessee and Marquette University have paused team activities in the past week.

The Huskies turn their attention to Bowling Green State University, tipping off at 11 a.m. CST Saturday against the Falcons.
