Police investigate weekend liquor store robbery

By R. Scott Lohman

An armed robber stole an undisclosed amount of cash and a bottle of liquor from a DeKalb liquor store last weekend.

According to DeKalb Police, a white male suspect entered DeKalb Liquor Mart, 1352 E. Dresser Road, Sunday around 8 p.m., picked up a bottle of whiskey and walked toward the cash register.

The man then displayed what has been described as a blue 4-inch revolver, either .22 or .38 caliber, and demanded money from the store clerk, police said.

He then left on foot and was not seen with a vehicle, police said.

DeKalb Police Sgt. Jim Kayes said the armed robber also stole the bottle of whiskey. He said no one was injured.

The suspect has been described as being between 25 and 30 years of age with a medium build, about 5 feet 8 inches in height and about 175 pounds, police said.

He also was described as having a slight limp, police said.

The robber was wearing gray sweat pants, a white shirt with a gray sweater underneath, a denim jacket and a yellow stocking cap with red trim, police said.

Kayes said the suspect is thought to have been in the Eagle Food Center across the street before the robbery occurred.

People in the food store identified a man which fit the same description, he said.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect or the robbery is asked to call the DeKalb Police Department at 756-1421 or CrimeStoppers at 895-3272.
