DeKALB – NIU’s Lifelong Learning Institute will be hosting a virtual lecture series titled “Psychedelic Miscellany” over the course of the next four weeks.

Lecturer Tom Roberts will guide participants through the “history and current uses of psychedelics in medical, mental health and religious contexts,” according to the NIU calendar.

The first lecture will be held at 1:30 p.m. via Zoom. Registration is required. The first lecture will discuss psychotherapy patients’ first-person reports: PTSD, depression, alcoholism, nicotine, anxiety, fear of impending death and more.

The second lecture will be on Disney’s Snow White interpreted with Stanislav Grof’s map of the human mind. The third lecture will follow Hofmann’s Potion, a video of LSD’s discoverer and things that followed. The fourth lecture is to be determined.

Tom Roberts is a published author and taught Psychedelic Studies, the world’s first interdisciplinary psychedelics course, in NIU’s Honors Program from 1982 to 2012.
