County cases rise to 7,942

DeKALB — The DeKalb County Health Department announced Friday the number of positive COVID-19 cases increased to 7,942.

Among those who’ve tested positive for the coronavirus, 1,308 are younger than 19, 1,849 are in their 20s, 1,181 are in their 30s, 1,130 are in their 40s, 1,012 are in their 50s, 694 are in their 60s, 396 are in their 70s and 372 are 80 or older.

As of Friday, 99 people have died from the coronavirus in the county, according to the DCHD.

DeKalb County has administered 5,810 vaccines as of Friday, 1.1% of the county population, according to state vaccine data.

At DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 2600 N. Annie Glidden Road., 69 staff members and 52 residents have tested positive for COVID-19. As of Friday, six DeKalb County Rehabilitation residents have died from COVID-19.

At Oak Crest-DeKalb Area Retirement Center, 2944 Greenwood Acres Drive, 30 staff members and 31 residents are COVID-19 positive. As of Friday, one Oak Crest resident has died from COVID-19.

At Bethany Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, 3298 Resource Parkway, 46 staff members and 63 residents have tested positive for COVID-19. As of Friday, 10 residents have died from COVID-19.

At Willow Crest Nursing Pavillon, 515 N. Main St., five staff members and three residents have tested positive for COVID-19.

At Pine Acres Rehab and Living Center, 1212 S. 2nd St., five staff members and five residents have tested positive for COVID-19.

Statewide, there are 1,120,528 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 19,138 recorded deaths as of 5:00 p.m. Friday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The state has vaccinated 194,471 residents as of Friday, 1.53% of the state population.
