The Tails Humane Society’s Pet of the Week for Jan. 31 is a 6-year-old domestic longhair male cat named Boomer.

Boomer loves attention and wants to go home with someone who can keep his coat groomed and has a calm household, according to the description on the Tails Humane Society website.

“She did live with other cats and a dog and frequently urinated outside of the litter box because it was more so because he’s kind of stressed out. I guess it was a very loud environment,” said Lexi Cannon, Tails Humane Society employee.

Boomer has been improving at using a litter box, but because he has nerves, he is not always perfect. He is best in a non-stressful environment to keep his nerves down, which will allow him to be better at using his box, according to their website.

“He has tested positive for FIV, which is an autoimmune disease. Typically they are more prone to getting infections and upper respiratory infections,” Cannon said. “Other than that, they do tend to live normal long lives.”

Cannon’s favorite thing about Boomer is how beautiful and calm he is.

If you are interested in adopting Boomer, Tails Humane Society, 2250 Barber Greene Road, can be reached at 815-758-2457. If the picture of the animal is still up on their website, they are still available.

Cannon said they are accepting walk-ins at this time.
