County cases rise to 8,100

DeKALB — The DeKalb County Health Department announced Friday the number of positive COVID-19 cases increased to 8,100.

Among those who’ve tested positive for the coronavirus, 1,344 are younger than 19, 1,887 are in their 20s, 1,213 are in their 30s, 1,151 are in their 40s, 1,027 are in their 50s, 698 are in their 60s, 400 are in their 70s and 380 are 80 or older.

As of Friday, 103 people have died from the coronavirus in the county, according to the DCHD.

DeKalb County has administered 8,139 vaccines as of Friday, 1.7% of the county population, according to state vaccine data.

At DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 2600 N. Annie Glidden Road., 73 staff members and 53 residents have tested positive for COVID-19. As of Friday, eight DeKalb County Rehabilitation residents have died from COVID-19.

At Oak Crest-DeKalb Area Retirement Center, 2944 Greenwood Acres Drive, 31 staff members and 32 residents are COVID-19 positive. As of Friday, one Oak Crest resident has died from COVID-19.

At Bethany Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, 3298 Resource Parkway, 47 staff members and 63 residents have tested positive for COVID-19. As of Friday, 10 residents have died from COVID-19.

At Willow Crest Nursing Pavillon, 515 N. Main St., five staff members and three residents have tested positive for COVID-19.

Statewide, there are 1,141,219 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 19,526 recorded deaths as of 5 p.m. Friday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The state has fully vaccinated 272,444 residents as of Friday, 2.14% of the state population.
