Huskies versus Loyola

By Mark D. Morrey

Soccer coach Willy Roy was in good spirits one day after his team played to a 2-2 tie against the DePaul Blue Demons.

He felt “terrific” as he spoke Thursday for the Kiwanis Club and at the Huskie coaches luncheon.

He is happy for his team because they are starting to play better as a team and “showed some offensive power” Wednesday. NIU will try and increase that power this afternoon at 4:00 at the soccer practice field as they take on Loyola University.

The Huskies lead the all-time series against the Ramblers at 8-0-1, with the tie coming at Loyola making the Huskies victorious in every meeting at home.

The Ramblers are 0-3 on the season with an unstable offense—their leading scorer has only three points.

NIU is also undefeated on the practice field with a 2-0 record. The Huskies (0-2-1) come into today’s home opener looking for their first victory of the season.
