County cases rise to 8,297

DeKALB — The DeKalb County Health Department announced Friday the number of positive COVID-19 cases increased to 8,297.

Among those who’ve tested positive for the coronavirus, 1,385 are younger than 19, 1,947 are in their 20s, 1,242 are in their 30s, 1,168 are in their 40s, 1,047 are in their 50s, 719 are in their 60s, 405 are in their 70s and 384 are 80 or older.

As of Friday, 109 people have died from the coronavirus in the county, according to the DCHD.

DeKalb County has administered 13,605 vaccines as of Friday, 3.15% of the county population is fully vaccinated, according to state vaccine data.

At DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 2600 N. Annie Glidden Road., 75 staff members and 53 residents have tested positive for COVID-19. As of Friday, 11 DeKalb County Rehabilitation residents have died from COVID-19.

At Oak Crest-DeKalb Area Retirement Center, 2944 Greenwood Acres Drive, 31 staff members and 32 residents are COVID-19 positive. As of Friday, one Oak Crest resident has died from COVID-19.

At Bethany Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, 3298 Resource Parkway, 47 staff members and 63 residents have tested positive for COVID-19. As of Friday, 10 residents have died from COVID-19.

Statewide, there are 1.17 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 20,192 recorded deaths as of 5 p.m. Friday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The state has fully vaccinated 507,862 residents as of Friday, 3.99% of the state population.
