Women’s track and field wins 3 events Thursday

DeKALB — The women’s track and field team came home with wins in three events Thursday at Ball State University for the Ball State Tune-Up in Muncie, Indiana. 

In the high jump, junior Taylor Ramsey won with a distance of 1.66 meters on her second attempt. Sophomore DaeLin Switzer took fourth with a distance of 1.57 meters. 

The triple jump was another spectacular event, as junior Diamond Riley took the top spot to give the Huskies another event win. She won with a distance of 11.31 meters. First-year Kendal Only finished in a close second place with a distance of 10.93 meters, losing by only 0.38 meters. 

Senior Fatimah Stingily gave the Huskies their last event win in the weight throw with a distance of 13.22 meters. 

Stingily also finished in a close second place in the shot put with a distance of 11.34 meters. Her junior teammate Christina Wood finished in a close third place with a distance of 10.87 meters. 

The Huskies will have their next event Feb. 26-27 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, for the Mid-American Indoor Track and Field Championship.
