DeKALB – Gas prices in Illinois have gone up by 9.7 cents this past week. The average price for gas is $2.74 per gallon, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 4,378 gas stations in the state. Gas prices in Illinois are 25 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and are 17 cents per gallon higher than a year ago.
The cheapest gas station in Illinois is at $2.39 per gallon while the most expensive is at $3.09. That is a difference of 70 cents per gallon.
“With last week’s extreme cold shutting down millions of barrels per day in refinery capacity, gas prices have seen their largest weekly climb in quite some time,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy. “
