Free COVID-19 testing at Convocation Center

DeKalb – NIU will be offering free drive-thru COVID-19 tests in the parking lot of the Convocation Center from  8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The tests will be performed by doing a nasal swab procedure. 

Participants will receive their results four to seven days after the test is performed via phone.

Students, faculty, staff and DeKalb County residents will also have the opportunity to participate in a second, optional COVID-19 test that is under research development,” according to the NIU Facebook page. 

This optional test will require participants to gargle with water and is conducted by Elizabeth Gaillard, director of the NIU Molecular Analysis Core Laboratory and professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, and her research team, according to the NIU calendar.
