Tails pet of the week: Turtle Dove

By Northern Star Staff

The Tails Humane Society’s Pet of the week of March 7 is a seventeen-year-old medium female cat named Turtle Dove.

Turtle Dove is a healthy cat who is blind. Despite a lack of vision, Turtle Dove is able to navigate through rooms quite well, said Nancy Rigler, a volunteer at Tails Humane Society.

Turtle Dove’s favorite activities include snacking and taking naps in comfy spots, according to the Tails Humane Society’s description on their webpage.

Turtle Dove’s name comes to her because “she makes the strangest noises I’ve ever heard a cat make,” Rigler said. “She sounds just like a cooing dove.”

If interested in adopting Turtle Dove, please call Tails Humane Society, 2250 Barber Greene Road, at 815-758-2457.Currently, they are open for walk-ins for customers to observe animals. To see what animals Tails Humane Society has for adoption, visit their website.
