DeKALB — Men’s soccer ends its winning streak with a loss at home Sunday against the Bowling Green State University Falcons, 1-0.

The Huskies were looking for a win after losing the previous five games against BGSU to Sunday’s match. The Huskies have been outscored in the last five games against Bowling Green, 9-3, prior to Sunday.

The Huskies had trouble getting shots on goal and scoring in their shutout loss. NIU was shut out for the full 90 minutes with a heroic performance by the Falcons’ sophomore goalkeeper Logan Kowalczyk who saved three shots on target against the Huskies. The Huskies had 13 shots, four of them being on target.

The Falcons were led by senior midfielder Chris Sullivan who scored the only goal of the game for either team in minute 70. The Falcons also outshot the Huskies 7-1 in the first half.

With the loss, the Huskies move to 3-4-1 on the season and 2-2 in the Mid-American Conference. BGSU moves to 5-3-0 on the season and 3-1 in the MAC, which puts the Falcons on top of the MAC.

The Huskies will play their next game against the Western Michigan University Broncos. Kickoff will be at noon Sunday in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
