DeKALB — With a 5-2 win over the Binghamton University Bearcats Sunday, the men’s tennis team won its fifth straight match to improve to 15-1 on the season and 4-0 in Mid-American Conference play.

The Huskies lost just two games in all of their doubles sets to win all three doubles matches, and the doubles-play point. Redshirt junior Kristopher Ortega and sophomore Oliver Valentinsson won their match 6-0 to improve to a 13-2 record overall.

In singles play, first-year Mikael Vollbach maintained his perfect record with two 6-1 set wins. The Huskies won four out of the six singles matches.

NIU will have its next match at 11 a.m. Wednesday when they will host the Eastern Illinois University Panthers at the Chick Evans Field House in DeKalb for a doubleheader. The second match will take place at 4 p.m.
