DeKALB – NIU students will have the opportunity to receive a free COVID-19 vaccine April 20 and May 18 during a vaccine clinic held by the DeKalb County Health Department, according to a Wednesday email sent to students.

Students will be offered the two-dose Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. The first-dose clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 20, and the second-dose clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 18. Both clinics will be held at the Convocation Center.

NIU canceled two Johnson & Johnson/ Janssen COVID-19 vaccination clinics scheduled for April 17 and 20 out of an abundance of caution, according to a Tuesday email sent to students.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration paused the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccines after six reported cases of severe blood clots from patients who received the vaccine.

Students looking to register for an appointment during the allotted time can sign up here.
