DeKALB – The DeKalb County Health Department will host a free COVID-19 vaccine clinic for all NIU students Thursday, according to a Monday NIU email sent to students.

The DeKalb County Health Department will administer the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine during the clinic. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is recommended for people 18 years and older and requires only one dose.

The clinic for NIU students will take place from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the NIU Recreation Center and the Convocation Center.

Students looking to register for an appointment during the allotted time can sign up here.

NIU previously canceled two Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccination clinics in April due to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration, who paused the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccines after six reported cases of severe blood clots from patients who received the vaccine.

Instead, NIU held a vaccine clinic for the first Moderna dose April 20 will hold another clinic for the second dose May 18.
