There will be a blood drive on 2428 Sycamore Road.
The Versiti blood center of Illinois has a plea for help. According to the blood bank there is a blood supply shortage and this could have drastic consequences on treating patients in need of blood donations. Versiti is a non-profit organization located in Aurora that specializes in blood products, blood services and provides medical support.
To maintain a steady supply, the Versiti blood center of Illinois needs about 700 blood donors per day during this week alone. This is to ensure that their 86 partnered hospitals in Illinois will be able to provide aid to patients in need of blood.
All blood types are welcome and needed. Blood types O positive and O negative are most in demand. This is because the most common blood type is O positive while O negative is a universal blood type that can be received by all patients in emergencies.
Donors are encouraged to assist in saving lives by considering making a donation today. Donation center hours have been extended through Oct. 1, walk-ins are welcome.
