DeKALB — Gas prices in the state of Illinois have decreased 6.0 cents per gallon in the past week according to Gas Buddy’s daily survey of 4,378 stations throughout Illinois. Gas prices have gone down by 2.8 cents per gallon in the past month.
According to the Gas Buddy price reports, the most expensive gas in the state today is priced at $3.84 per gallon, while the cheapest is $2.85 per gallon, a price differential of 99 cents.
“Average gas prices saw little change from a week ago, declining slightly. But overall, prices remained near 2021’s peak price set in early August due to COVID-19 supply and demand imbalances,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy.
On Sep. 27, 2020, the national average for gas prices was $2.17 per gallon. This average has gone up by one dollar in the span of a year, as it currently stands at $3.17 per gallon.
