Monday

  • Charter Dura-Bar Meet & Greet Table: Charter Dura-Bar will host a Meet & Greet Table in the Barsema Hall Atrium to discuss internship opportunities. The event will be from 10  a.m. to 2 p.m. at Barsema Hall, Atrium.
  • Center for Student Assistance Open House: The Center for Student Assistance is here to help students in any way possible. The event will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Campus Life Building, Room 150.
  • Citation Management Using Zotero: This workshop will be geared toward those new to Zotero who are looking for a way to organize their research. It will be held virtually at 11 a.m., register here.
  • Honors Capstone Workshops: The workshop will inform students about the capstone experience and give them the opportunity to ask questions. The event will be held virtually at 11:30 a.m.
  • Bra Drive Event: Help the Good Girls as they go PINK for the month of October by donating gently used Bras. Bras will be used in our upcoming “Art Your Bra” event and then donated to breast cancer support groups. The event will be at 12 p.m. at Starbucks, Neptune Central and Stevenson Hall.
  • Huskies, Get Hired!: Master the Huskies Get Hired (HGH) online system to find openings for on campus employment, off campus part-time jobs, internships, and jobs for after college. The event will be at 1 p.m. via Microsoft Teams.
  • Resume Writing: The Essentials: Learn the essentials of a good resume, along with effective ways to communicate your value to employers at this 3 p.m. workshop via Microsoft Teams.
  • Student Success Session with Sarah: Join Peer Academic Coach Sarah Heinz for a live chat anytime during this half-hour session at 4 p.m. via Microsoft Teams.
  • BSU Pageant Auditions: This event is placed so that male and female freshmans have the opportunity to be a part of Black Student Union’s very own annual pageant. Auditions will be from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Holmes Student Center, Room 505.
  • Honors House Therapy Dog event: Come visit some puppies and relieve some stress before Midterms. The event will be at 6 p.m. outside of New Hall Community Center, 645 Grange Court.

Tuesday

  • Yoga: Students can connect their mind and body with yoga poses, balance, conscious breathing, and relaxation. The event will be at 8 a.m. in the Student Recreation Center, Fitness Studio B.
  • Registering for Classes Workshop with Sarah: Students can review the registration process at this virtual 11 a.m. workshop.
  • Don’t stress. Do your best. Forget the rest: Beating Test Anxiety: Join Huskie Academic Support Center and Orientation and First Year Programs for this peer-facilitated workshop. The event will be at 12 p.m. in the Holmes Student Center, Heritage Room.
  • Hospitality 320 “Ellington’s” served at The Depot: Campus Dining Services will be serving a veggie hummus sandwich with Greek pasta salad and a mini cheesecake ​​for only $8.99. This will be at 12 p.m. at the Depot C-store located in Holmes Student Center.
  • Bike Service at the Adventure Center: Having bike troubles? Stop by and see what we can do to help you out and get you rolling again. This will be at the Student Recreation Center, Adventure Center at 4 p.m.
  • Career Building: AAPI Panel: Palenlists will discuss their leadership experiences at NIU and their career trajectories. This will be at 5 p.m. in the Holmes Student Center, Sky Room.
  • Art Your Bra: Decorated bras will be donated to breast cancer support groups. The event will be at 6 p.m. at the Holmes Student Center, Illinois Room.
  • Outdoor Adventures: SUP Yoga Classes: Each class is guided by instruction aimed to challenge as well as relax and unwind. The $5 registration includes rental of SUP, paddle and instruction. The event will be at 7 p.m. at Anderson Hall.
  • Sigma Lambda Beta Int. Fraternity Inc. Informational: To recruit possible new members and introduce them to Sigma Lambda Beta Int. fraternity. The event will be at 8:06 p.m. in the Latino Center.

Wednesday

  • Innovation Hours: This is your chance to meet with the Innovation Team and get personalized support for your innovation ideas and projects no matter the stage. The event will be at 9 a.m. at Founders Memorial Library, 71 North Partnership Studio.
  • Student Success Session with Lizett: Join Peer Academic Coach Lizett Cervantes for a live chat anytime during this half-hour session at 12 p.m. via Microsoft Teams.
  • Korean Corn Dog Fundraiser: Chi Sigma Tau National Fraternity Inc. is selling Korean corn dogs, the main difference between that and a regular corn dog is it is filled with cheese and wrapped around panko breading. The event will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Asian American Center.
  • Intuitive Eating Workshop: Take back your joy of eating and learn strategies to heal your relationship with food and your body at this 3 p.m. event at the Student Recreation Center.
  • NIU Communiversity Gardens –   Weeding Wednesdays: Join to volunteer this fall on Wednesdays through October 27 anytime between 3-5 p.m. at Anderson Hall, NIU Communiverstiy Gardens to help with weeding and preparing the gardens for winter rest. Registration is required.
  • Harry Potter Special Dinner at New Hall: Campus Dining Services will host a “Harry Potter” themed dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. at New Hall Dining.
  • Declutter the Emails!!!: Join Alpha Phi Omega as they declutter their emails and unsubscribe unnecessary junk mail. The event will be at 6 p.m. at the Holmes Student Center.
  • Outdoor Adventures: Hourly Lagoon Night Paddles: Students can rent a watercraft for an hour from 7 to 9 p.m. at East Lagoon. The price is $5 for NIU students, $10 for non-students. 

Thursday

  • Hospitality 320 “Ellington’s” served at The Depot: Campus Dining Services will be serving Mexican ceviche salad with a citrus vinaigrette and served with a side of Mexican quinoa salad and churro cookies for only $8.99. This will be at 12 p.m. at the Depot C-store located in Holmes Student Center.
  • Special Dinner: Narnia: NIU Dietetic Interns are hosting a special dinner with a “Narnia” theme. The dinner will be from 4 to 7 p.m. in Neptune Central, Cafeteria.

  • Outdoor Adventures Intro to Bouldering Workshops: Learn about the history of bouldering as well as what type of gear and techniques are used to boulder. Registration cost is $5 for students, $10 for non-students, register here. The event will be at 7 p.m. in the Student Recreation Center, Bouldering Room.
  • Third Thursday Karaoke @ Club 1895: Karaoke will be from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Holmes Student Center, Club 1895 – Lower Den.
