Alpha Kappa Delta Phi and eSports to host charity Mario Kart tournament for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

DeKALB – NIU eSports and alpha Kappa Delta Phi are partnering to host a Mario Kart tournament to benefit breast cancer awareness. The Karts for Cancer event will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28. in the Holmes Student Center Capitol Room.

The registration fee for the event is $8, and prizes will be awarded to the top three winners according to the event’s Google Forms registration page. Tournament participants must fill out the form by Tuesday, Oct. 26, in order to be registered.

The first three participants to volunteer to bring their own Nintendo Switch and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe game for use in the tournament have the opportunity to waive their registration fee.

Alpha Kappa Delta Phi has hosted fundraisers nationally to benefit Breast Cancer Awareness Month for over 20 years that have raised over $1.1 million in total funding, according to the sorority’s website. Their 2021 Breast Cancer Awareness fundraising goal is $100,000.
