Meijer and Sam’s Club have been added to the list of stores allowed to sell SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) online after being approved by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. LINK card users in the state of Illinois can now order groceries online through 11 supermarket chains throughout the state.

SNAP customers who are looking to use their cards online with Meijer must be in a location where the grocery shopping app “Instacart” can be used. The store is also accepting EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) online through the app as well. Sam’s Club locations will begin accepting EBT as a form of payment this month through the company’s app, “Scan & Go.”

With the addition of Meijer and Sam’s Club, the list of grocery stores included in online SNAP benefits is as follows: Capri IGA, County Market, Fairplay Neighborhood Market, Schnucks, Supermercados El Guero, Woodman’s Market, ALDI, Amazon and Walmart.

Online grocery shopping for SNAP users was made possible by Governor J.B. Pritzker in March of 2020 during the rise of the pandemic. Online and in person authorized retailers are required to only approve eligible food items through SNAP benefits. If interested, Illinois residents can use the SNAP eligibility calculator to determine if they are eligible for SNAP benefits.
