DeKalb Police: 20-year-old charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault

Two collisions occurred on North Annie Glidden Road Thursday morning, according to the DeKalb Police Department.

DeKALB — The DeKalb Police Department arrested 20-year-old Jake Johnson concerning an aggravated criminal sexual assault that occurred on Tuesday. 

At approximately 2:03 p.m. police were notified of an assault that took place at Lincoln Tower, 1100 West Lincoln Highway. According to authorities, Johnson lured the victim into an abandoned apartment in the complex, then locked them inside and proceeded to attack them. The victim was physically beaten and sexually assaulted. Police obtained video surveillance that captured and identified Johnson fleeing the scene at Lincoln Tower after the assault.

Authorities say police officers were able to locate Johnson soon after the incident on 1100 West Lincoln Highway. He fled from the officers on foot but the police were able to apprehend them after a short foot pursuit. 

Johnson has been arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, unlawful restraint and resisting a police officer in regards to the aforementioned assault.
