DeKalb’s Safe Passage, Inc. is hosting their first Pride Party 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1915 North 1st Street.
Safe Passage’s Pride Party will include activities, games, and community information. It will be a family-friendly picnic party and will have a bouncy house, lawn games and tie dying.
“For Safe Passage specifically, we want [Pride Party] to share that our services are available for everyone and that everyone deserves safe relationships," said Lynnea Erickson Laskowski, Communication and Prevention Services Director for Safe Passage. “We want to create a very welcoming, affirming space particularly in this month when we celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community.”
Pride Party is free and open to the public. “Bring yourself, your kids, your pets, and your neighbors,” said Erickson Laskowski, “Bring everybody and just have fun!”
Safe Passage is the rape crisis center and domestic violence agency serving the Dekalb County.
“The mission of Safe Passage is to promote the rights of all to nonviolent and abuse-free relationships through advocacy, intervention, and prevention in the DeKalb County,” according to the Safe Passage website. Established in 1981, Safe Passage is a safe place for victims of both domestic and sexual violence.
