Cholod earns MAC Golfer of the Week

Junior Matt Cholod of the Northern Illinois University Huskies was named the Mid-American Conference player of the week.

Cholod recorded his best outing of the season March 30-April 1 as he tied for 11th place at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate.

Cholod was able to help the Huskies finish at 8th place, which makes their 5th consecutive top ten finish since last fall.

Opening with a 77 in the first round, Cholod was able to improve in the second round with a 72 by getting three birdies on the back nine. Cholod kept things steady in the last round including 15 pars for another 72. This helped the Huskies move up four spots in the rankings.

The award is Cholod’s first Golfer of the Week award and the first for the Huskies this season.

Cholod will join the Huskies in action at the Missouri Tiger Invitational April 9 and 10 at The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, Mo.
