Street Interviews: How are you celebrating Valentine’s Day?

The holiday of sweethearts, lovebirds and Cupid’s mischievous arrow will soon be upon us. Not all NIU students, however, have majorly romantic plans this year. The life of a college kid is a busy one! Whether this Valentine’s Day finds us with candlelit dinners or simply a soft pillow and some extra shut-eye, here’s to a rosy Feb. 14. No matter your plans, don’t forget to grab yourself some gooey chocolate hearts!

How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day?
Answer: “If I had a partner, you know, I’d probably take the partner out on a date. You know, maybe buy them some, like, chocolates or something… I mean, I don’t think I have anything planned… I could possibly go buy, like, a special meal to celebrate Valentine’s Day or something like that.”

How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day?
Answer :  “Okay so last year, I did like a small get-together with my friends, and it was like a painting-night. This year I think we’re doing the same thing but not at my house, at one of my friends’ houses. We all, like, get baked goods and just do things as friends.”

How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day?
Answer : “No, nothing…if I have a shift I’ll come and work. I’ll go to school and do my homework. That’s it.”

Answer : “Yeah, to who are celebrating: Happy Valentines Day.”

How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day?
Answer : “Last year, we got each other presents, gifts, like, little cute Valentine’s Day cards and candy and stuff like that. That’s about it…Yeah, you just exchange gifts.”

Anything important to add?

Answer : “Yeah, I usually just stay home sometimes too!”

How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day?
Answer : “Normally I just, don’t even think it’s Valentine’s Day. I just go on with my day, not thinking it’s Valentine’s Day… and I sleep! That’s it. That’s basically everything I do on Valentine’s Day.”
