Chemical Engineering with Society of Women Engineers

From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. the DeKalb Public Library, located at 309 Oak St. is hosting a chemical engineering event. Attendees will get the chance to practice several experiments and chemical reaction activities, such as ones that include film canister rockets. The event will be led by the Society of Women Engineers. Entry is on a first come first serve basis. To reserve a spot, register through eventbrite

Disney’s Descendants: The Musical

The Egyptian Theater will show two performances of “Disney Descendants: The Musical” at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The musical will be performed by the Children’s Community Theater, a theater company based in DeKalb. The stage adaptation is based on the Disney Channel movie of the same name and follows the children of Disney villains as they are given the chance to go to school alongside the children of Disney heroes. Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $10 for kids ages 12 and under. Tickets can be bought on the Egyptian Theater website.  

Funny Money

At 7:30 p.m. Stage Coach Players, located at 126 S. Fifth St., will be performing the play “Funny Money.” The play, directed by Bernie Schuneman, follows Henry Perkins, a certified public accountant, who returns home from work and finds he grabbed the wrong briefcase – one full of a million dollars. Perkins gets himself into some hysterical situations as he tries to return the briefcase to its rightful owner. Ticket prices range from $16 to $18 and can be bought online.  

Spring Shindig

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. the Downtown DeKalb Merchants will be celebrating spring with a Spring Shindig. Businesses of downtown DeKalb will offer special discounts and deals, and restaurants will be open to enjoy bites and drinks from. For those who are wanting to explore downtown DeKalb and support local businesses, Saturday is the perfect day to do so.
