DeKALB – Sept. 1, the building that formerly housed the Fanatico restaurant, 1215 Blackhawk Road, was set on fire.

38-year-old Rasim Spaijoski reportedly paid 65-year-old Richard Chase to set fire to the former restaurant. Chase then paid 38-year-old Joshua Patton to start the fire instead.

The DeKalb Fire Department and the DeKalb Police Department arrived at the scene of the active structure fire around 5:50 p.m. Sept. 1.

After putting out the fire, DeKalb Police Department detectives, DeKalb Fire Department arson investigators and a special agent from the Office of the State Fire Marshall were invited to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.

Spaijoski was charged with felony solicitation and felony arson. Chase and Patton were charged with separate counts of felony arson and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
