DeKALB – NIU wrestling split matchups, securing a commanding 32-12 victory against the University of Indianapolis but faced defeat against host Purdue University during the Boilermaker Duals on Saturday.

Following an undefeated performance against Lindenwood University and St. Ambrose University at the Huskie Duals on Nov. 3, NIU was dealt its first team loss against Purdue by a final score of 13-22.

THREE HUSKIES GO UNDEFEATED

Redshirt sophomore Blake West headlined a trio of Huskies who finished 2-0 at Sunday’s competition.

West’s undefeated campaign started with a pin over Indianapolis sophomore Nathan Smith and ended in an 8-0 major decision over Purdue freshman Ashton Jackson. West moved to 4-0 in dual-meet settings for the season following Sunday’s results.

Redshirt freshman Tommy Curran followed up an opening match pin against Indianapolis junior Jackson Hoover with a closely contested 10-8 decision over Boilermakers’ redshirt senior Marcos Polanco. Curran now boasts a 3-0 career dual-meet record.

Senior Matt Zuber contributed five team points with an 18-3 technical fall over Indianapolis junior Aidan Petersen in his opening bout. In his second appearance on the mat, Zuber halted a 3-0 Boilermaker’s run, securing a sudden victory period triumph over redshirt freshman James Rowley at 184.
